A Vegan Girl On Her Life Journey :)

I hate boxes; I like summer and freedom!

Hiiiiiiiiiiii world!! How are you doing today? ๐Ÿ˜‰

OH MY GOSH. Sorry for the looooooooong time no post. There were just waaaaaaaay too many things going on in my life, and I needed time to rebuild up myself. Yes it’s a toughy, and yes it’s going to take time; I know, but,

even if that’s the case, I have to rebuild myself up. Why? Because in order for me to be ME, that’s how I have to take stuff that comes to me. I want to avoid it, but I have to face it. Life is like that, and I’m slowly, but for sure, recovering from all the complicated things that are going on/happened in life.

But! I thought I should blog (recap my couple of weeks)ย AFTER graduating, but BEFORE my birthday ๐Ÿ™‚

So here’s graduation;ย 6/15/2010 Tuesday

A visit to a local (sort of) farmer’s market two weeks agoย and this week.

Round One: We found this.

Falafel! Holy yum! It was really hot, and I thought my mouth was going to burn! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Many many eats from the last couple of weeks:

Michael’s leftover vegan vanilla cake (holy yum!) with SO Delicious Creamy Vanilla Soy Ice Creamย with sprinkles of coconut shreads. (What is up with my coconut obsession? I have no idea) ๐Ÿ™‚

New products are fun.

Clif Bar Granola Bars! Hooooooooooly yum! Lots of fibers, I have to say ๐Ÿ˜‰ This one (chocolate chip) is good, but I absolutely LOVE White Macadamia Chocolate!!

And at the farmer’s market (week 2), I bought vegan scones.

They were really hard and tasted plain. What do you put on them?? (I did Almond Butter and Jam. It was okay.)

And I got a couple of things in the mail.

Elephant leaflets from peta2

And a big package from the AP Art board with my nearly destroyed art pieces.

Thank goodness it was fairly sunny this week! I missed the sun, A LOT. (right Michael?) ๐Ÿ˜‰

OOh, and today (Saturday – how long does it take this girl to write a post?? Forever), Michael and I went to the Strawberry Festival!! But I forgot my camera (because I haven’t been blogging too much and I forgot to put it in my bag), so no pictures of the festival, but there are pictures of the products we Michael got for me. It’s almost my birthday (3 days!!), so it’s okay for me to be spoiled. ๐Ÿ˜‰ (and hey, before he bought me all these, I bought him shaved ice. He actually wanted it, so it somehow balances out) ๐Ÿ™‚

A super cute, pink, flowery Reusable snack bagย fromย Mama Luvs! Pay $9 this one time and I can use it for the rest of my life without wasting any plain ol’ plastic bags. (It’s not like I do that anymore, but still. The cuteness motivates me to do it every time, even if I don’t have time/am rushing) ๐Ÿ˜‰

Next,ย he bought me this awesome bracelet.

A bracelet made out of recycled paper/magazines by Tusubira.

Front side.

Back side. So I talked to the ladies who were selling these, and they said that almost all the profit goes to the people in Uganda. And they also said that this is a fair trade business, so I was extremely relieved. (because recently, “fair trade” has been an issue I was looking into) Knowing that this product supports good causes (economically and environmentally), I was glad to have this purchased! ($5 for the very colorful, creative, art piece-like jewelery is a win!)

And yes!!! This is an extremely pretty/colorful glass bead bracelet that I fell in love with! (love at first sight can be pretty true, you know!) ๐Ÿ˜‰

This was originally $12. We bought everything without tax, so we gathered up all the money we had (which barely added up to $12) and went to purchase it. But then they added tax, so it was $13.08. We didn’t have $13.08, so we were about to leave, then the people were like, “How about $11 + tax for $12?”

Score!!!!!

She made it $12.05 (now that 0.05, I had) ๐Ÿ˜‰ and we were able to successfully buy it!!! Yeay for trying!!!

Yeay for the beauty!! (seems a little patriotic, but not really. I just liked it. No other reasons)

The two bracelets’ style andย colorsย go very well with my super uncoordinated bracelets! ๐Ÿ˜€ (How many bracelets do I have on me you ask? 13. But I’ve done more. 42 is my maximum) I LOVE BRACELETS!!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ (If I ever do 42 again, I’ll make sure to take a picture of it; it looks pretty rediculous, crazy, and heavy, but it really isn’t heavy at all!!! It’s just crazy and fun!!) ๐Ÿ˜€ I told you, I hate boxes (to be in a certain way – heck no!!!); I like summer and freedom! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I took more pictures than this, but this is all I’m going to put up, because I dont’ see too many points in covering the weeks that passed by. I’m going to wait for the fun things that are going to come ahead in my future!

Ooh, and to my readers: If you like to have your voices heard, love stickers, want to make an impact on others, or all of the above, check out thisย website. This site‘s motto is:

Chalk Drawing, First Morning Pick-Up, Sometimes Subway, Obento, Daikon, New Buys, How’s Your Summer?

OMG Hi World!!!! How are you all doing? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I haven’t been here for a while now, but I’m still here! Just lots of stuff (like finals!) going on. Monday will be my last final (Calculus) and Tuesday, I’ll be graduating! Holy moly! That’s just scary!! Congrats to those of you who already graduated! ๐Ÿ˜€

This week was chalk full of stuff!

On Tuesday, it was chalk (Lol) drawing day in AP Art.

That chalk drawing of the awesome Narwhal is mine. ๐Ÿ˜‰

It was for my friend, Alex, who asked me to draw a Narwhal for her. ๐Ÿ™‚ (with its awesome rainbow horn) ๐Ÿ˜‰ It was a fun thing to draw!

And this is my AR-ness ๐Ÿ™‚ I was planning to draw this ever since I started this class, so it happened!! (Lesson here: “Stay focused on your goals and keep your positive daily affirmations flowing and know like you know that you WILL get everything you set out to” (from Kris’ post; very inspirational!))

And that’s me being with my Narwhal buddy ๐Ÿ™‚ That was so much fun! (and a little bit painful because I had to spread the chalk with my bare hands! Ouch!) But it was worth it and she loved it, so it’s all good!! ๐Ÿ˜€

On Wednesday, my boy came to pick me up to go to school together for the first time ever!

Cloudy, but I was happy. ๐Ÿ™‚

7:12 am.ย A time I’ll never forget. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeay!!! ๐Ÿ˜€

On Thursday, I took lots of pictures of/with my friends.

Just to show you a few…

En la clase de Espaรฑol. ๐Ÿ™‚

Creative Writing.

During the assembly (which we were totally not interested in).

I love my friends! I’m going to miss them after high school!! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

On Friday, I had a movie night with my boy at home.

My Veggie Delite. I’ve been having Subway quite often now, which makes me happy because my brother has it almost every other day. (it’s not unhealthy, so it’s okay) ๐Ÿ˜‰ We watched Wall-e, and hope to finish it after the final/graduation or during the summer.

On Saturday, I went to school.

Picture of my obento that my mommy made me. (once a week only, so I really look forward to it every Saturday!)

Ahhhhh the joy of Japanese food! Yumm!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ I love you, mom!!

This is what I found on the kitchen table after I came back. Daikon radish right out of the garden! (it tasted very fresh and it was tasteless. But that made it taste more “natural”)

After dinner,ย we (my boy and I) went to a friend’s dance concert, but I forgot my camera, so no photo. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ But it was really cool, and 1.) I couldn’t image her doing such dance and 2.) I saw quite a lot of people I knew from school, and that was surprising. ๐Ÿ™‚

Buys for the week: other than the usual (food, etc.), when we went to PCC, I got this.

A super cute reusable tote bag! I got lots of comments on this one. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I absolutely love it! It’s just too adorable!

And today, mi madre y yo went shopping, and I got this.

A planner!!! Oh my god, I wanted one so bad! And I found the perfect one, so I had to get it!

It’s going to last me a while, and it has a cute beach theme to it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Nice and big. I love having big spaces to write! (so during school, an agenda was crutial!!) ๐Ÿ˜‰

See? Nice and big. Just the way I like it ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh yeah, my birthday’s coming up. That sounds too soon to be true, but it’s coming. I should be more excited, but because I never really had anything “big” on my birthday, I think it’s going to be pretty chill. ๐Ÿ™‚ (it’s still a while from it anyways, so I don’t really have a plan.)

My events during the summer is my birthday, work, school, and go on a trip somewhere. We’ll see how it goes. ๐Ÿ™‚ How’s your summer going so far? Did you do anything exciting? Fill me in!!

Now, I’m off to “study” for my Calc. final. We’ll see how that goes, too. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Like always, thaaaaaaaaaaanks for coming! ๐Ÿ™‚

A Present and Lots and Lots and LOTS of goodies!

Hello friends! How are you doing today? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Heads up first, but I’m not going to blog about what happened that week; it’s not working for me. I’m going to blog about whatever happened whenever, because I like to do things suddenly. That’s me, and this is my blog, so be okay with it. ๐Ÿ™‚ If you’re not, don’t read it, okay?

Going back to the actual topic. Two words: holy moly. It was pouring like insane all this week, and today, it’s finally sunny!!!

Ooh yeah. Now that’s what I’m talking about! I love the sunny weather!!! What’s your favorite weather?

Life is more fun in the summer/when it’s sunny, in my opinion. Why? Because so much stuff happens. ๐Ÿ™‚

For instance, a few days ago, I got a package in the mail.

It was a graduation present from my cousin!

Here are the things I found:

A congrats card,

Graduation bear,

Grad stickers,

A Grad keychain (I love keychains!!!)

A huge Grad Pen (it’s REALLY big!),

And a silver “congratulations!” pencil. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m really thankful that I get stuff like this. Thank you my cuz!

I bought these a few days ago because I made a trip to TJ’s and what I was looking for wasn’t there. (I don’t like leaving places without buying something) It’s also a reward for surviving school. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hooooly moly!! The cookies were amazingly good!

Even my little brother liked it! (He seems to love vegan cookiesย more than the ones that aren’t vegan. He actually says “This is GOOD!!”)

On Friday, I went to my boyfriend’s house for dinner (and it was scary because 1. I don’t like going to other people’s houses and 2. I like to eat at my own place. I sound conservative. Ha ha) and I took some of the lasagna he made.

Ahhhhhhhh; vegans can have lasagna too, you know! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Then for dessert, we had a Naked Coconut Barย fromย Coconut Blissย because my girl friendย loved it. ๐Ÿ™‚

(I’m getting there, so don’t worry!) ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ta-da! Like sheย said, it was really good!!!ย This isย theirย new product, and I absolutely LOVE trying new things!!! ๐Ÿ˜€

And because I love to go shopping for extra stuff that may be unnecessary at that certain moment at night, Michael got me this.

Vegan Chocolate Cake!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ Holy yum! This was very filling, and it was HUGE!!ย But me and my little brother we finished it all up like hungry godzila roaming through Tokyo. ๐Ÿ˜‰

OMG OMG!!!! Today I went to WFs because I wanted some Raw Kelp Noodles, and they were out (agian!)! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ But I kept wandering the store because it’s fun and I enjoy it, then I discovered this!!

Take a closer look now…

Chocolate Barsย fromย Go Max Go Foods; 2 for $4!!!! That’s a good deal around here, so there was no reason for me NOT to get it! ๐Ÿ˜‰

And in that section, there was also another product on sale, and I had to get it as well. ๐Ÿ™‚

So these were what I got today.

And the Mahalo bar was eaten before I took the picture of everyone together. ๐Ÿ™‚

(there were a few pieces of almonds in them, which made it better than eating just coconut + chocolate)

And the ingredients (vegan) aren’t bad at all! (at least it’s better than having stuff that you can’t pronounce)

This tasted amazing;ย I’dย call it Vegan Almond Joy. ๐Ÿ™‚ If you enjoy/love coconuts like theseย girls, you should totally try them out!! (where’s my boy when I want to share a good treat like this?!) I would have saved some for him, but that didn’t happen. Too good to be saved. Ha ha. ๐Ÿ˜‰

And a close-up view of the other two products I bought:

This chocolate bar (vegan!) was 2 for $5.ย (and it’s usually pricy, so it was a good, fair deal) ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve never tried this before, so I should look forward to it! (I don’t like it when I don’t have a bar of chocolate in the fridge; it’s a necessity for me!)

Oh, and ha ha. While I was writing this post, I made Raw Vegan Chocolate Coconut Snowballsย by Averie!!

Wow!!! This was so easy to make! (Mix everything, stick it in the freezer for less than 20 minutes, and voila!) This is very tasty, very very coconutty, and it’s a good recipe for people who love coconuts and who’s very impatient about waiting for it to become all stiff. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you for the recipe, Averie!!!!!!

Fhew! That was a good amount of pictures blogging for one day! What’s your plan for Sunday? Are you doing anything fun?

Enjoy the sun and thaaaaaaaaaaaanks for coming! ๐Ÿ™‚

Movie, Craft, Green Eats, Shop, New Eats

Hi world! How are you doing today! ๐Ÿ˜‰

It’s raining like crazy here, and I don’t think it’s going to stop for a while! (But it’s supposed to be sunny on Sunday, so that’s good) Do you have plans for the Memorial Day’s Weekend?

Last Saturday was Prom, and just to tell you all, we didn’t go. Why? Because it costs a butt-load of money, I thinkย it isย just for social reasons, and we think it’s pointless and boring. (And by looking at the pictures from Prom in the school paper, it looks rediculous.) This is my opinion, and because it’s my blog, I’m writing what I want to. (But if you went and you had a great time, great! We’re just different, that’s all) ๐Ÿ˜‰

Instead of going to Prom and spending over $500 total, we went to see Babies!

(source)

It was adorable! There was no narrator, so I was surprised at first, but that also made the documentary unique. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Some things (for the Japanese Baby) were a little bias, and I asked myself, “Wait? What? They don’t really do that…” And to me, it seemed like the American Baby was made to seem like the best baby. (again, my opinion) It was very interesting to learn how different culutres react to babies! It was a nice chance to learn. ๐Ÿ™‚

Moving on, something I made with pre-used materials:

Ooh yeah. Empty Lara bar wrappers covering a used-to-be-marinara-sauce jar.ย  ๐Ÿ™‚ I wonder where this went to… ๐Ÿ˜‰

Green eats for the last few days…

This one was after we saw the movie: $11.90 at WFs ๐Ÿ™‚ Mmm, it’s so fun eating there! (a bit pricy, though…Oh well. It’s not everyday)

And more new finds and eats here and there.

Holy! This was really good! I like dressings now ๐Ÿ˜‰

I found these at the local WFs. Haven’t bought any (because it’s totally not the season to be eating ice cream around here!), but it will happen (hopefully) someday. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Organic Orange Juice from TJ’s ($4 +). It was really good, and I had fun drinking it when I was sick last week. (ooh it was baaad. But magicially (or because I’m vegan), I felt better the next day. Yeay for being healthy!)

And more “bulk” shopping.

There’s supposed to be another jocalat bar (hazlenut flavor), but I ate it before the picture was taken. ๐Ÿ˜‰

And the super new finding/trying was this!!!

Wayfare‘s Hickory-Smoked “Cheddar” Spread!!! Hoooooly cheese!!! It tastes like…cheese! (because I was never a big cheese addict, this sure tastes like it! Good for me!) I debated between the cheddar cheese and Hickory-Smoked, but it won. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anyone tried this before?

Yeay for all the healthies in it! ๐Ÿ˜€ Now I don’t feel guilty for eating it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

And this PURE bar here, was a big no-no for me. It was too seedy, and there was no chocolate at all in this! :O (which is technically a disaster for me) ๐Ÿ˜‰ I likeย the Chocolate PURE bars better.

Well, this is finally published, and I’m glad! (and relieved! Fhew!)

What did you do for Memorial’s Day? Anything fun? My weekend post will come next time. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for coming! ๐Ÿ™‚

P.S: My girl friend Michal is having a One Year Blogaversery Giveaway!!
