Free Sample/Product Reviews, Chocolate Cups, Eating Plants

Hellooo world! How are you doing today? 😉

First of all, how’s my new layout? When I was editing the comments, this layout caught my eyes. I checked it out, and boom! It just happened. (I was going to change it when I had 100 posts, but that’s not going to be any sooner!) Twenty Ten is the layout, and I think it’s pretty cute!

Second of all, thank you all for leaving a comment! It makes me really happy (and glad to blog) when I know there are people out there reading this! I extremely appriciate all of you who took your time to write a little something for me to see!

Here’s the confession for today:

Eating healthy is NOT expensive.

We had a class discussion about how eating healthy food generally cost more money. I certainly didn’t think it was true. What’s your thought? Is eating healthy expensive? Or is it totally affordable?

Speaking of food, last Friday, I got a free sample of Kashi’s Go Lean Crunch thanks to Averie’s Post.

It came in a nice, mini-size box.

And this box was covered with a coupon.

Nice! Overall, this was very crunchy, and it had a nice honey flavor to it. If you like cereal, you should give it a try! 😉

Review Alerts!

Boom! Look at THESE! I FINALLY found Heart Thrive suncakes that Michal has been talking about waaaaaaaaay too much. 😉 Discovered them at Whole Foods for the first time ever. (the near-by WFs doesn’t carry them. Boo!) 😦 But with them, I found a brownie bar from Frankly Natural Bakers.

Date: Very dry, but VERY filling!

Chocolate: More ingredients than Dates. Still good, with a hint of chocolatiness.

Size-wise, this baby is pretty big. I was surprised! 🙂

Yum! This is a really good snack if you’re really hungry, but you don’t quite want to eat a meal. 😉 We discovered this at $2.29. Is that cheap, expensive, or normal for this product? Anyone know?

Dang. This was dryyy-y. And I actually tasted grape in this baby! It was quite surprising, because it was more towards the bottom of the list. :O

And I’ve been enjoying creating chocolate cups for the last few days.

Smily face on the left, sprinkled cashews on the right.

Middle filled with Almond Butter.

A lot healthier than Reese’s pieces!

Made with Cocoa Powder + Agave + Coconut Oil.

So yeah! I am madly in love with Averie’s Vegan PB Cups! (even though mine are Choco Cups and/or AB cups!) 😉

And it’s interesting how you ARE what you eat. When I eat stuff that’s “bad”, I feel rotten. SO, I need to snap out of this habit and start eating “good” food.

Today was a pretty good start.

Yeay for plants! From the bottom left (clockwise): Combination of Burdock Root, Yam/Konjac (love!), Kelp, and Soybeans cooked in a crockpot, Brown Rice, Miso Soup with tofu, seaweed, sprouts, and a stir-fry with sprout and mushrooms.

Eating a plant -based diet really increased my awareness of what I put in my mouth. It makes me think about food and where/how it came from/to me. I feel healthier, and I need less sleep. 🙂

Also, going vegan made me realize what I’m good with and not good with. The things I’m not good with are…

  • Avocados
  • Nuts (Almonds, Cashews, Peanuts, etc.)
  • Cocoa Powder
  • Soy Yogurt
  • Chocolate Chips (actually, eating too much at once makes my skin itch real badly.)

I’m sure I’ll discover more as I live. But on the other hand, I’m good with these things:

  • Fruits (Apples and Mangos)
  • Vegetables (Spanich, Kale, Carrots, etc.)
  • Intense DDR
  • Water
  • Odwalla Superfood

I’m honestly glad that I’m finding out what’s good and what’s not. (though it sucks when you find out that it’s not good with you and it’s not cooperating with you) But then, I know how to fix the problems at this point, so it’s going to be all good. 🙂

What food does your body like? Do you know what it dislikes?

Like usual, thaaaaaaaaaaaaanks for coming! 🙂

P.S: Katie is having a Shopping Spree Giveaway!

Crazy Weather, Review Alerts, Rosewater + Free Sample, and Yummy Eatings and Creations

Hello world! How are you doing today? 😉

First thing: I wish I had more readers.

Whenever I go over to blogs like Michal, Katie, and Averie‘s, I really really wish that I can have that many comments/readers. Oh well, I guess I have to keep at it and see what happens, because no matter how many readers (and unreaders) there are, I’m going to keep blogging anyways. Why? Because I love it.

Moving on to today’s topic:

I hear that many of you are experiencing warm weathers (90 degrees? What’s that?), and here where I live, we’re experiencing some CRAZY weather patterns!

Before I decided to blog, this was the weather:

(it’s rainin’)

When I was debating if I have time to blog and do art work, the weather was like this:

(a little better)

Then when I finally decided to blog, the weather was like this:

(cleeeeaann sky)

And it’s really sunny right now. What the heck, right? Oh well, this is the result of the humans destroying the planet. Might as well just accept the fact and keep striving to save the environment. 🙂

Review Alert!

Veggie Crunchers

From Costco. My mom bought it for me a while ago, and this seems to be pretty good all around!

Filled with healthy, vegan, vegetables.

My favorites are the yellow sweet potato, squash, and green beans. If you don’t have a dehydrator and you want veggies, give it a try!

Also, I’ve been going pretty crazy with these.

Daaaaaaaaaaaaang, they are frizzly! I like this one, because it’s strawberry, and that’s what makes it awesome. 🙂

There may be a next time for this baby, but only if it’s on sale. (like 2 for $4)

And the UPS man delivered this to us today:

Rosewater. It is amazing, and it totally refreshes you, no questions asked. For me, this is a necessity.

Increase your vibration and energy. Doesn’t it sound replenishing?

And the package came with a little free sample.

It smells really good, and I would want to use it, but because my mom ordered it, she gets to use it first. 😉

These products are really, one of the most (and the only) amazing product I use. If you ever find it (they sell it at Whole Foods as well), you should give it a try! (or at least smell it, because the smell of those roses in there are absolutely phenomenal!)

Combo of canned tomato, LOTS of garlic, basil, tofu, and mushrooms + Brown Rice.

These two were so great that I had seconds! (that means it was really yum) The taste of garlic spread in my mouth as the sourness of the tomato seeped out. It was amazingly good! (thank goodness she made extras; more for tomorrow!)

Mmm yummers!

And after that, I munched on a few chips. Then, I encountered this interesting shaped chip.

Ha ha! I thought it was funny. 🙂 A hole right in the middle. I wonder how it got there.

Today’s after-dinner-creation was Nut Chocolaty Sweetened Yogurt.

Combination of Vanilla Soy Yogurt, Raw Cashews, 3 squares of dark chocolate smashed up into little pieces, vanilla extract, and raw agave. (Amounts are random; if you want it sweet, and more agave, if you want more chocolate, add cocoa powder, etc.)

I wanted something that would make me happy. I knew chocolate + cashew does the work, but didn’t want only those two, so I came up with this creation.

Swirl of sweet goodness! I loved it! It’s a good way to close my meal. 🙂

What’s your favorite snack/dessert? Do you have them often? Or just once in a while and you’re fine? This yogurt + sweets combo has to be my favorite dessert, but my favorite “snack” would be Dark Chocolate, Vegan Cookies and PURE Bars!! I love chocolate, and I’m proud of it! I have some sort of snack (may not be chocolate or cookies, but some type of snack) everyday, and that *deff* makes me happy. 🙂

Oh my gosh! Tomorrow is Earth Day!!

Anyone have plans? Are you going to do/did you do something special today? Do you usually do something to save the environment? In Environmental Club, apparently we’re going to have a party, but I haven’t really heard anything about it. My plan for this week (Earth Week) is to walk to school every school day of the week (even if it’s raining, and I did that today. Woo!), use reusable bags (and not just carry the stuff, but I mean actually put it in a reusable bag), and I’ll probably figure out more tomorrow! I am a light freak, so if there’s a room that’s empty but with the lights on, I run to it and shut the light off, and perhaps unplug all the plugs that are unnecessary. And I’m vegan! That’s *deff* helping the environment. 🙂 Raising awareness of how the animal product industries are one of the top contributors to global warming is something that helps as well.

That’s all for now! Thaaaaaaanks for coming! 🙂

There’s a Jewelry Giveaway going on! Have you entered yet?

Weekend Veg*n Festivness!

Hi everyone! How are you doing today? 😉

I first decided to do a post covering the whole week, but that seriously isn’t my style of blogging. So, I’ll make a quick recap on what I did throughout the week.

Last Sunday, Michael, Jenny, and I all went to Sakura Con, which is an Anime Convention. (Simply put, people dressed up as characters from animes and games are there) Bought expensive yet cute stuff like Baby Mario and Toad Keychain.

On Wednesday, Michael and I had a heated discussion (which lasted about 2-3 hours) about  life. (It was so intense that I had to postpone dinner. Now THAT’s insane!)

And this Sunday, Michael, Jenny, and I went to…

Vegfest 2009 - March 21st & 22nd, Seattle Center Exhibition Hall

Vegfest!!! It is one of the biggest vegetarian festival in the US, and I have to say, it was AMAZING!!!!

So many people showed up; from little kids to adults.

Vegfest Crowd

We volunteered for 4 hours. Therefore, admission was free. 🙂

Very crowded, I know. It was INSANE!!!

I took WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more pictures than how much Jenny sent me, but because they’re not here, I’ll put up the ones that I have.

We (as in Michael and I) volunteered at this station:

Field Roast. All their products are made with Textured Wheat Gluten. (Therefore, it’s not gluten-free, but it’s soy-free, so if you’re allergic to soy, this is the one for you!)

We made Vegan Tacos (no pic!) 😦 with their new product, which is the Meatloaf.

“All you do is crumble them up, add spices, and that’s it! Very easy to make!” (I literally said this 100 times. Fhew!)

Have you tried anything from Field Roast?

After an intense, over-the-volunteer-hour hour, the lady at our booth brought us some vegan pizza from the booth next door.

It was yummy! I haven’t had pizza ever since I went vegan (about 6 months or so), so I was really thrilled to try it!

So after lunch, we went for a tour. (after all, it’s free admission! Why NOT go walk around?)

There were amazing products where you just had to scream and “ooh-ahh” for.

Vegan Cheese

And their products

Juice Pouches

From Peter Rabbit Organics. There were two types: Mango, Banana & Orange and Apple and Grape.

I chose Mango, Banana & Orange.

The banana was really strong, so I personally didn’t like it, but if you love banana + mango, you might love it! 😉

We stopped by Jenny’s station to snatch taste some of her chip ‘n’ dips.

It was nice ‘n’ spicy. It was burning my mouth! :surprised:

Moving on, we passed by Honest Tea.

They had lots of varieties.

Local Organization

And I found something I’ve been looking for FOR EVER in my area:

Vega Bars!!!

I FINALLY found them, and I was SO excited! Everyone in the blogsphere seems to like it, and I wanted to always try it! 😉

I’ve seen these at Whole Food before. They were very…energizing! 😀

We came by Organic Soy Delicious.

We got Cookie Dough soy cream.

Purely Decadent Dairy Free Cookie Dough

It was really, really good! (we went back for it 2 times after our first. It was that good!) It tastes just like ice cream, but better! 😀 If you like Cookie Dough, you have to try it!

Rolling back time, before we started volunteering, they gave us half a doughnut from Mighty-O.

It is a local doughnut shop, and they use organic ingridients, and it’s all vegan! 😀

My personal favorite is Chocolate Raspberry.

I tried many other ones, like Double Chocolate, Lemon, and Nuts, but my fave has to be Raspberry.

We spotted another ice cream sample.

Michael got Vanilla and I got Mint.

It had a nice, cool flavor to it, and it wasn’t strong like ordinary mint flavored ice cream. I liked it. 🙂

There were other booths like Odwalla, Adina, and Synergy. Many brochures were out there, too!

We got home, and these were our findings.

Food Samples I got:

Other fun stuff I grabbed:

This cute Larabar card (that Jenny gave me. Thank you!) had this cute & gigantic sticker.

I’m going to figure out where I’m going to put this sticker! 😉

Cute and shmexy pins from my station.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha! These cuties gave me a good laugh. 🙂

Fhew! That was the most time consuming post ever! Lots of pics = lots of time. Okay, make sense. Is there any vegetarian events in your area?

Well everyone, thaaaaaaaaaaaaaanks for coming! 🙂

P.S: Averie is having a Jewelry Giveaway!

Where are my pictures?!

Hi world! How are you doing today? 😉

Sorry  for the loooooooooooong time no post. I’ve just been flooded with stuff to do for school (and especially AP Art! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!)

Okay, because the pictures I need aren’t here (planning on getting it around Saturday and blogging about it this Sunday), I will write what I did, and I’ll make a post about it later.

First, last last Sunday, my friends went to Sakura Con. Jenny cosplayed as Kiki from the Japanese Movie Kiki’s Delivery.

Michael WAS going to cosplay as Zelda…

(Lol)…but we couldn’t find the wig in time, so he cosplayed as Link. (both from the Legend of Zelda game)

And I cosplayed as Duke Devlin (from Yu-Gi-Oh!).

(*No permission, no pictures. Just the characters)

It was quite outrageous, and there were over 9,000 people at the Con! It was insane!!!! Maybe I’ll go again next year. 🙂

Moving on; this Sunday, us friends (same member) went/volunteered at…

Vegfest 2009 - March 21st & 22nd, Seattle Center Exhibition Hall

It’s a festival where many many MANY veg*n food are prepared for the people, and it is a good way to show how veg*n food does NOT taste like crap. (It’s actually healthier!) 😀

More pictures and details to come later in the week. So until then, enjoy the sunshine! (Hey! We’re finally getting some sun around here!) 😀

Thaanks for coming! 🙂

Spring is here, break is over!

Hi world! How are you doing today? 😉

Sooo, Spring has finally come; fairly good weather (though there’s rain and hail at times), it’s been pretty warm compared to how it was a while ago!

This week was Spring Break, and now, the fun is over. But, I made great use of my time this week!

Monday I made Orange Flavored Tofu.

Orange Flavored Tofu

I had them for the next 3 days! They were very “orange-y” 😉

Holy yum! But I personally would perfer more orange juice in the recipe!

Tuesday same thing + homemade carrot shreddies, miso soup, and TJ’s meatless chick’n.

Carrot shreddy

This is one of my favorite dish that my mom makes. 🙂

This meatless chick’n has the texture of meat, so if you just became a vegetarian and you miss your meat, try this!

Wednesday I tackled Spectrum‘s Unrefined Coconut Oil.

Coconut Oil!

It was on sale at WF’s for $6.49 (and it’s usually about $8.99), so I thought I’d give it a try because Averie uses it so much!

I made Averie’s coconut oil chocolate with it, and it turned out AMAZING. (Photos may come later)

And I had some chocolate from Endangered Species.

Chocolate with Cocoa nibs - 72%

WOW. This was an AMAZING chocolate bar. With the cocoa nibs in it, it reminded me of the crunch chocolate bar. But these are healthier, and it’s vegan, so this wins. 🙂

Thursday, I shared this chocolate peanut butter from Honest Foods with my boyfriend.

This was not too sweet, and not too starchy. Overall, I liked how it had a chocolate + peanut butter flavor to it.

Vegan Chocolate Mousse

When we came back from a convention, we made a trip to WFs and bought this mousse for $3.99. (It was totally worth the price. This thing was super-heavy for a cake!) Mmm, it was a good dessert after dinner!

Fhew! The convention was from Friday to Sunday, so that was a lot of fun! Lots of people, and I re-realized that we’re all different, and it’s okay to be who you are. People sometimes do stuff because other people do it, and by going to the con for the last three days, I realized that it’s okay to be honest with yourself and be who you want to be. Did you learn something over the weekend? Did you do anything for the Easter Weekend?

Well now, (our last) Spring Break is over, and we’re back in school! What joy is that going to be! Lets see if I can get 2 art works done!

My goals for this week:

  • Finish my current art project
  • Start on another project
  • Study for the math test
  • Enjoy the weekdays and the weekend!

There’s going to be something special this coming weekend, and you shall find out…later!

Have a good day and thaaaanks for coming! 🙂

P.S: Philip McCluskey is having a Raw Giveaway!
